This batch of photos comes from an overcast morning spent wandering around Boeing Field. Outside of the Museum of Flight were a number of antique bi-planes and fighters that had been meticulously restored, all lined up in the parking lot. Most were from the 1930's to the mid-1940's. As I was photographing these, I thought about some of the films taken by the military in the Pacific theatre towards the war's end. They were in color, but with a gold and brown, slightly overexposed tint to them. When I began working with the images, it became clear they were best suited to this style. Very little retouching has been done other than RAW color conversion in Photoshop Lightroom.
I love the fact that eight simple screws are essentially what keep pilot and aircraft in the air.
